Welcome to the GMU Wood Project! We are a small group of students interested in generating ideas and creating dialog about sustainability and other environmental concerns around the GMU campus. We as a group are setting out small pieces of post consumer wood, which would otherwise be thrown away, and asking the GMU community, what can you do with this piece of wood to help create sustainable environments and promote environmental consciousness?
We want all ideas, from the simple to the abstract about how you can use this piece of wood. So let us know! Post your ideas and stories on this blog and share with others what you can do with a piece of wood.

This is a great project idea!
I am going to use my piece of wood to prop my window open when the weather gets cooler. When I try to open my window it just falls down unless I push it all the way up (and then it gets stuck!). This wood will be PERFECT to keep it cracked just the right amount so I don't freeze. :)
Thanks and good luck!
I have placed my most attractive block of wood on my bookshelf as an art object. It is sitting next to my sock creature that says, "Be a freegan, go dumpster diving!"
i could use this wood as a door stop. i'm always in need of them, as i work at a school with small children who have problems opening the doors. :)
my piece of wood could be used as a bookend as the books on my shelves are always leaning and eventually, falling down....
Good post.
